Girl Talk: Being a Boss

I have so many titles! Mom, Girlfriend, Sergeant, CEO, Supervisor, and the list goes on. I talk to a lot of women who have a problem with being "The Boss". It is not easy and it comes with it's fair share of complications, but if handled and maintained correctly, it's all work it. So below are some tips to being in charge!

-Stay humble! Nobody likes a cocky or arrogant boss. There is a fine line between confidence and cockiness. Work hard to find that balance to gain respect and maintain it.

-Stand your ground. As a woman, you will be challenged just because you are woman sometimes, because men may not want to follow and woman may want to challenge you. Learn to pick your battles and when you do, GO TO WAR!

-Be confident!!! You didn't get where you are for no reason. A seemingly weak boss is a sad sight to see, so put your big girl drawers on and go for gold!

-Be Self-motivated. It is so easy to say my kids motivate me or money or whatever, but being motivated because you want to please yourself is key. At anytime, your situation could change and hard times could come, so you have too have the ability to pull through FOR YOU!

-Learn to take cultism. It may be hard, but getting feedback, honest feedback from subordinates and such is key to making sure you that you progress and get better!

-Look the part!! When it comes to looking good, its not always about you look but its more about how you feel when you look good and how people perceive you. When you look out of whack, your people can tell so make it your business to be as sharp psychically as you are mentally.

Tattoos and snapbacks! The hat and red lip is a new favorite of mine. This is my new go to look when I have to run out of the house to run errands or when I want to be sexy and look done up even while being casual. This is a perfect example of why not! I can spend $65 vesus $350 bag that is not going to be worn on the regular is SO awesome to me. With so much fashion and so many choices, it feels good to save a buck and be able to get a plethora of options!

At $119, I would have to say the Clarisonic is worth every penny! There is nothing like the feeling when you can tell your face is CLEAN! This product should not be used everytime you wash your face. Most dermatologists recommend exfoliation 2-3 times a week. This product can be found at Sephora. Overall I give this product a A.

Dear Ms How do I stay fly on a budget,

This must be the most asked question by all women right now because whether you are making the big bucks or going to work at McDonalds most of us ladies have some type of budget! So to be fly or to be broke does NOT have to be the question. Spending a little money on those must have pieces is a must for a diva on a budget. If you really want thos e Jeffery Campbell Litas for $160 go for it because you will get alot of wear out of them and they are a nice statement piece. When it comes to your basics, those are the things you can skimp on a little without ever taking the chance on looking cheap. Finding a way to streamline your basic pieces and get longevity out of them are also very important. A few tips on how to avoid looking cheap and saving money...1. pay attention to fabrics, if it cost $5 and it feels like it costs $5 you might want to pass! There is nothing worse that ruining a nice look with one cheap piece that looks out of place. 2. Second hand shopping is okay!! It took me awhile to catch on but its AWESOME you can find some of your best pieces that way. This will also ensure that you have pieces that you know aren't going to be in the next chic's closet. 3.Realize what you are paying for...a name, comfort, fit...Ive seen label whores who look a HOT MESS!! And we all know an expensive hot mess does not look any better than a cheap hot mess! As a woman we all deserve to treat ourselves sometime so work your shopping habit into your budget and try your hardest to avoid impulse buys!!

Dear I cant find my size in jeans,

Most of us ladies with a nice booty, curves, and then some have this issue! So whats to do? First off, investing in some nice quality jeans that may cost a bit but it is WELL worth it even if the fit is off a little. If you suffer from the gap in the back or the pulling due to being a little "hippy" a seamstress can be your BESTFRIEND and surprisingly alterations can be VERY cheap!! Also stop fretting over the size and concentrate on the FIT!! If you gotta hit the plus size section then so be it! When you pants fit properly they can actually have a slimming affect versus the sardines stuffed in a can look!! Embrace your curves hunny...shoot beyonce does!!!
